The towns and villages located around the National Park are Zarnesti and the Bran, Moeciu and Fundata villages in the Brasov county, and Dambovicioara, Rucar villages in the Arges county. Among the above mentioned settlements, the town of Zarnesti, Rucar and Dambovicioara, Pestera and Magura villages (Moeciu) and Sirnea (Fundata) have the highest impact on the National Park.

The town of Zarnesti is located in the Brasov county at 28 km SW from Brasov city. Zarnesti has been declared a town at the end of the year 1950.

Rucar is located in the NE of the Arges County, in the upper part of the Dambovita basin. Is covers an area of 283.62 sqkm and is 80 km far from the Pitesti city and 25 km away from Campulung, on the DN 73 National Road.

Dambovicioara is close to Rucar, and it includes the villages of Dambovicioara, Podu Dambovitei and Ciocanu.

Magura and Pestera belong to Moeciu which is located 30 km South of Brasov on DN 73. Population (of the both villages) 1300 inhabitants.

Sirnea belongs to Fundata and is located at the border between the two counties (Brasov and Arges)
