   The main attraction is the 25km long limestone ridge, oriented from NE to SW, which reaches the maximum height at La Om Peak (2238m). It is the longest and the tallest limestone ridge in the country.

   The best known among the limestone formations are Acul Crapaturii and Orga Mare on the northern side,  Turnurile Dianei and the arches from Zaplaz in the central area and Marele Grohotis and Ceardacul Stanciului on the southern side.

   Other attractions, especially for the rock climbers, are the Prapastiile Zarnestiului Gorges on the northern side and Dambovitei, Dambovicioarei and Brusturetului Gorges on the southern side, with different difficulty levels rock climbing routes.

   Coltii Chiliilor Cave, that used to shelter the locals during Turkish invasions in the XVth century, and Dambovicioara Cave are the most visited caves from Piatra Craiului National Park.

   Piatra Craiului National Park shelters several European interest habitats types and species. We could mention: bushes with Pinus mugo and Rhododendron myrtifolium, alpine and subalpine calcareous grasslands, calcareous and calchist screes of the mountain to alpine levels, mountain hay meadows, Luzulo-Fagetum beech forests, acidophilous Picea forests of the montane to alpine levels etc. Some of the European interest species found here are: Canis lupus (wolf), Lynx lynx (lynx), Ursus arctos (brown bear), Tetrao urogallus (capercaillie), Bubo bubo (eagle owl), Dryocopus martius (black woodpecker). There were identified 1183 species and subspecies of superior plants on the park territory. Some of the best known plants are: Dianthus callizonus (Piatra Craiului pink) which is an endemical plant and the symbol of Piatra Craiului National Park, Leontopodium alpinum (edelweiss),Papaver alpinum ssp. corona-sancti-stefaniNigritella nigra, N. rubra,Cypripedium calceolus (lady’s slipper),   Trollius europaeus (globe-flower), Gentiana lutea (yellow gentian).

   And the last, but not the least, when visiting Piatra Craiului National Park you shouldn’t miss the mountain villages with households scattered on the top of the hills, where the locals have preserved the centuries old traditions, in harmony with nature.
